Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Gopher Tech, LLC ("Genie", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our service at genie.tech and related applications.
Information we collect
- Account data — your email address and name, collected when you sign in.
- Repository metadata — the GitHub organizations and repositories you explicitly connect, along with commit messages and pull request metadata needed to generate your digests.
- Delivery configuration — the Slack, Telegram, Discord, or email destinations you configure.
- Billing data — if you purchase credits, Stripe collects and stores your payment information. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Usage telemetry — aggregate counts of digests sent, errors encountered, and feature usage, used to operate and improve the service.
How we use your information
- Generate your commit digests and deliver them to your configured channels.
- Authenticate you and maintain your session.
- Process payments through Stripe.
- Investigate errors, detect abuse, and improve reliability and quality.
- Communicate service updates, security notices, and changes to these terms.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information or repository data.
- We do not train AI models on your private code or commit history.
- We do not send your data to any third-party LLM provider by default. Inference runs on Genie-operated infrastructure unless you explicitly opt in to external model routing — see /subprocessors.
- We do not share the contents of your digests beyond the delivery channels you configure.
- We do not retain raw commit data. Commits are fetched from GitHub on demand to generate each digest and discarded after delivery.
Service providers
We engage third-party service providers to operate Genie. Each has its own privacy policy governing data it handles on our behalf. The current subprocessor list — including which providers process data for every customer and which are engaged only when you use a specific feature — is published at /subprocessors.
Data retention
Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. Digest summaries are retained for 90 days so you can review recent history, and then permanently deleted. Raw commit data is never persisted. Aggregate telemetry is retained indefinitely but contains no commit contents or personally identifying data.
Your rights
You can export or delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hi@genie.tech. Deletion is permanent and cascades to all digests and configurations tied to your account. If you are a resident of the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA including access, correction, and portability — email us to exercise them.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit via TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting providers. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and audited. Report a security concern to hi@genie.tech.
International transfers
Genie is operated from the United States. By using the service you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in the U.S. and in the jurisdictions of our service providers.
Children
Genie is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced by email and reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Genie after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
